With the roar of canon, shot of pistol and clash cutlass, pirates streamed into Cathedral Park this weekend for the 2008 Portland Pirate Festival. Set against a watery backdrop of the Willamette River and under gray skies, the stage was perfectly set for buccaneers in their finest regalia to meander through the markets pavilions, take in a live show, feast on a variety of fine foods and belly up to the bar at the Rogue Brewery tents.
Pop Culture Zoo there to take it all in with cameras in hand. Wandering through this family friendly event, we found grim privateers, grog swilling wenches, His majesty’s Royal Marines, fine ladies and young swabs of all shapes and sizes. Even the lord of the deep, Neptune, was in attendance.
