Last Saturday Night (February 23) Captain Redgoat and I attended the first annual Film Fever Radio Movie Awards at the stylish Sam’s Billiards over in Portland’s swank Hollywood District. We had a hoot and it was quite the night.

I don’t really remember who won all the awards, however that’s not important. Hanging out and meeting local, hip celebrities was very fun. Let me just say that it was very humbling being in a room full of people who are effortlessly far more cool that I could ever aspire to be.

Anyway, I got to finally meet a personal hero of mine, one Mr. Rick Emerson, who, seconds after shaking my hand proceeded to have nothing more to do with me. It wasn’t that he was being obnoxious, it’s just that there were far more interesting people than me there that he had many more things to say to. Let me also add that Captain Redgoat has minor local celebrity status so I really looked like his hapless sidekick all night.

Later in the evening Captain Redgoat introduced me to Rick’s producer, Sarah X Dylan and we got into an excited discussion about this season (so far) of Lost, although it was cut short after Redgoat revealed he had not seen last week’s episode yet.

Fatboy, he of Cort and Fatboy fame was also there and we wrapped up the evening talking to him. Of course, it goes without saying that the whole night was a blast thanks in no small part to our gracious hosts, Aaron Duran and Scott Dally. Thanks guys, it was fun. Oscars Schmoscars, bring on the Film Fever Radio awards! I’m already looking forward to next year.

As a postscript, let me just say my new favorite late night snack is now a chilled Viso and a bacon maple bar from Voodoo Donuts. Tasty perfection indeed!
