It is with great sadness that we must report another tragic loss this year. The wonderful Don S. David died Sunday, June 29th of a heart attack at age 65. Best known for his role in the first seven seasons of “Stargate SG-1″ as series co-star General George Hammond, Davis was also well-know as Major Garland Briggs on “Twin Peaks”. His final “Stargate” performance will be in the new “Stargate SG-1″ DVD film, Continuum, which will be released July 29th and he has also apparently completed filming the forthcoming films Vipers, Woodshop, and Far Cry. Davis was beloved by his “Stargate” co-stars as well as the shows crew and many fans. He was regarded as a very kind and generous man. Outside of acting, he was also an accomplished artist in the areas of sculpture, painting, drawing, and set design. His artistic work can be seen at donsdavisart.com. Davis’s family will hold a private memorial in a few weeks where they will scatter his ashes into the ocean. Anyone wishing to honor Don S. Davis may do so by making a donation to the American Heart Association.

We at Pop Culture Zoo send our deepest condolences, thoughts and sympathies to Don Davis’s wife Ruby, his family, friends and colleagues.
