SDCC 08: The Image Comics Panel
Robert Kirkman, Whilice Portacio, Jim Valentino, Marc Sylvestri, Rob Liefeld and Eric Larsen were all in attendance for the Image Comics panel on Friday.
Announcements were made that Darwyn Cook would be both writing and drawing a Madman comic.
Also announced was that that two Image comics would be made into cartoons. The first was Mice Templar, and the second was Fire Breather.
Some new Frazetta properties were be made into comics such as Silver Warrior…I unfortunately wasn’t able to catch the other two names… They also announced Death Dealer II.
Robert Kirkman is writing an Invincible vs Astonishing Wolfman x-over.
Walking Dead will be celebrating it’s 5 year anniversary. A hardcover of all the Walking Dead covers was announced. The next arc of Walking Dead will deal with the characters making their way to Washington DC to see what is going on…not much detail was given.
The big announcement made was that all the original creators, minus Jim Lee, would be working on a 6 issue mini called Image United. Each artist will layout an entire issue but then only do the final artwork for their own character and then hand the book off to the other artists. The book will be written by Image golden boy, Robert Kirkman. A lot of joking around was made that perhaps this will never get done and a 2009 release date was panned by the artists.
