Comic Con Team-up: Rose City Comic Con And Emerald City Comicon

After an amazing debut in 2012, the Rose City Comic Con is kicking it up a notch or 12 for its sophomore year by announcing a partnership with Seattle’s Emerald City Comicon. Forging ahead into an impressive eleventh year of operations, ECCC lends its considerable skills to bolstering an already elegantly run RCCC to make Portland, OR the place to be for next Fall’s biggest pop culture spectacle. Seattle-based ECCC Corp., organizers of Emerald City Comicon (ECCC), the largest comic book and pop culture event in the Pacific Northwest, announced today a formal partnership with Portland-based FlashPoint Media to cooperate in bringing Oregon the convention it rightly deserves in the 2013 Rose City Comic Con (RCCC).

RCCC 2013 will be taking place September 21-22, 2013 at the Oregon Convention Center, and will be co-produced by both ECCC and RCCC, combining the talents and organizational efforts for one fantastic event. The first guest announced for RCCC 2013 is world-renowned illustrator Adam Hughes.

“This announcement kicks-off a fantastic partnership,” says ECCC Convention Director Jim Demonakos. “We are thrilled to team up with Ron Brister and his crew to help take the Rose City Comic Con to the next level!”

“We are so excited to work with ECCC and build upon what was started in 2012,” says Ron Brister, Rose City Comic Con founder. “ECCC has long been a favorite convention of ours and now, every six months there will be an amazing convention in the Pacific Northwest!”

Stan Lee, Bruce Campbell And Morena Baccarin Headline The First Portland Wizard World

The convention season starts earlier in 2013 as Wizard World starts their tour off in the Rose City, Portland, OR! Stan Lee, Bruce Campbell and Morena Baccarin lead an impressive line-up of celebrities and comic book creators that will make this inaugural show one to remember. Comics legend Stan Lee, Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell, “Homeland” headliner Morena Baccarin and “Superman” Dean Cain top the standout lineup of celebrities scheduled to attend Wizard World Portland Comic Con, Feb. 22-24, 2013, at the Oregon Convention Center. They will be joined by a top-drawer collection of well-known artists and a variety of activities, exhibitors and special attractions in the first event on Wizard World’s 2013 calendar and the first Wizard World event in the “City of Roses.”

Lee is scheduled to attend all three days, while Baccarin will appear on Saturday and Sunday, Cain is set for Friday and Saturday and Campbell will be on hand on Friday only.

Other headliners slated for the Wizard World Portland roster include Michael Rooker (“The Walking Dead,” Henry), Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead,” Boondock Saints), James Marsters (“Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” “Caprica”), Jason David Frank (“Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers,” The One Warrior), Juliet Landau (“Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,” “Angel”), James Hong (Blade Runner, Kung Fu Panda), Lou Ferrigno (“The Incredible Hulk”) and the Boondock Saints duo of Sean Patrick Flanery and David Della Rocco joining Reedus.

The lineup of superstar comic creators in Portland is also impressive, with Chris Claremont (“Uncanny X-Men,” “Spider-Man”), Carlos Pacheco (“Green Lantern,” “Wolverine”), Mike Deodato Jr. (“Wonder Woman,” “Batman”), Eisner Award winner Kurt Busiek (“Astro City,” “Superman”), Kaare Andrews (“Astonishing X-Men,” “Iron Man”) and “Zombie King” Arthur Suydam (“Marvel Zombies,” “Army of Darkness”) among the top talent.

Wizard World Portland Comic Con, produced by Wizard World, Inc. (WIZD.PK), will bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop-fi, pop culture, movies, graphic novels, comics, toys, video gaming, television, sci-fi, gaming, original art, collectibles, contests and more. Admission is free for kids 10 and under, and Sunday, February 24, is “Kids Day,” an array of programming specially designed for children.

Event hours are Friday, Feb. 22, 3-8 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 24, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
